Community Projects - Colombia

We have selected one very specific area in Cauca region, called Caldoro to support. We buy a big proportion of what the community produces, which will allow us to support more than 26 families.

Caldono is a Colombian municipality located to the North of the Department of Cauca, 67 km from Popayan (the capital of Cauca). It belongs to the river basin of the Cauca River, and the most important river in the area is the Ovejas. Most of its territory belongs to the central mountain range of the Colombian Andes. Caldono is composed of 6 populated settlements, 86 villages and 6 indigenous reserves (the Sath Tama Kiwe territory).

Agriculture is the most important economic activity in the Caldono municipality which include coffee, cane, yucca and banana crops as well as vegetable crops, such as onion, tomato, carrot or cabbage, which are grown in small areas as an extra income.

As part of our 2020 donation we will support them by financing moisture meters, refractometers, water filtration systems, and wood stoves for every family in the community.
