With our partners in Nicaragua, we are collaborating on the building of a kitchen and dining facility where workers can have better conditions for preparing and eating their meals in a clean, comfortable and safe environment. In addition to this, the facility can be used for other activities such as workshops, seminars and special events. We are working with Peralta coffees the processor, exporter and financial support for those farms that supply Toby’s Estate coffee.
All the coffees we export from Nicaragua are handled by the Dry Mill Beneficio Don Octavio, located in Mozonte, Neuva Segovia. The well-being of our collaborators at Beneficio Don Octavio is our priority. Our goal is to provide each worker with at least one good meal a day prepared and served in optimal conditions.
This facility will be able to welcome 120 people per shift; with up to 3 shifts in total per day and will include:
- A stove, refrigerator and dishwasher.
- A dining room with tables, chairs and ceiling fans.
- Lockers with padlocks will be assigned to each worker to keep their personal items safe.
- Parking for bicycles and motorbikes; these are common forms of transport.
- Restrooms will be built next to the facility for better accessibility (3 women’s and 3 men’s toilets as well as a shower for truckers who spend the night at their facility).
