October 2025 Single Origin Rotation

8th Oct 2025

This month, we’re thrilled to present a lineup of coffees defined by rare varieties, bold provenance, and meticulous processing. From Mario Mejía’s experimental farm in Honduras to Gesha fields beside the original Gori Gesha Forest in Ethiopia — these coffees celebrate both craftsmanship and story.

Single Origin Espresso

Honduras, El Jardín

A highlight of our October espresso offering, this natural lot from Mario Mejía’s Finca El Jardín is bold and comforting. Through slow drying on raised beds, it develops flavours of fresh cherry, rocky road, and caramel. Mario’s experimental approach to variety trials—and his commitment to agroforestry—makes this more than just a cup.

Ethiopia, Gerbota

Grown by the Abebe Mulugeta producer group high in Yirgacheffe (2,100–2,150 m), this natural espresso is the product of hand-selected cherries and 12–17 days of rigorous drying. The result is a sweet, dense cup with lime, stonefruit, and butterscotch notes.

From the remote valleys of Southern Shan State, this espresso is a story of revival. As farms were once abandoned, Behind the Leaf Coffee worked with Pa-O families to restore selective harvesting and processing. Expect cherry, orange marmalade, and dark chocolate in every sip.
