Things You'll Need

  • Aeropress
  • Aeropress filter paper
  • Gooseneck kettle
  • Water at 94°C (you can boil water and leave it for a few minutes)
  • Scales
  • Timer (the one of your phone will do)
  • Coffee paddle or something for stirring
  • Filter roast coffee
  • Mug or a sturdy cup

STEP 1

Place filter paper in cap. Rinse filter paper by completely saturating it with hot water to remove any paper taste.

STEP 2

Allow the water to warm your mug whilst you grind your coffee.

STEP 3

Grind your coffee to produce 15g. For best results, freshly ground coffee is preferred. Aim for a medium coarse grind.

STEP 4

Discard the papery water from your mug.

STEP 5

Invert the Aeropress plunger into the chamber. Stop just before the number 4 marking.

STEP 6

Place the inverted Aeropress onto the scales and tare.

STEP 7

Place 15g ground coffee into the Aeropress. Tare scales and start timer.

STEP 8

Saturate coffee with 235g of water.

STEP 9

Dip paddle all the way down the chamber. Agitate the coffee by circulating the paddle 5 times.

STEP 10

Allow the coffee to brew for 45 seconds.

STEP 11

As soon as you hit 45 seconds, agitate again, circulating 3 times.

STEP 12

Place filter and cap onto chamber. Turn to lock.

STEP 13

At 55 seconds, quickly invert Aeropress onto your mug.

STEP 14

Plunge using gentle pressure. Stop applying pressure just before expelling all liquid.

STEP 15

Remove Aeropress by inverting, so coffee doesn’t drip.

STEP 16

Enjoy your coffee!
