Three Shots at the Champs!

The Australian specialty coffee scene has been abuzz with excitement and tension as talented baristas and roasters from across the country gathered to compete in various challenging competitions at ASCA. Among them were Toby’s very own Danny, Viona, and Linda!

Danny, entered the Coffee Roasting Championship with a clear goal in mind. He meticulously planned his approach and made strategic adjustments to his technique. As the competition unfolded, Danny executed his plan flawlessly, showcasing his skill and expertise. The result? A well-deserved second-place finish, marking a significant achievement in his coffee career. Danny will go on to represent Australia at the World Coffee Roasting Championship in Copenhagen, Denmark June 27-29, 2024

Meanwhile, Viona faced a nail-biting challenge in the ASCA Cup Tasters Semi Finals. Tasked with discerning the odd cup out of three, she approached each round with focus and precision. Viona astounded everyone by acing all eight rounds in a mere 2 minutes and 47 seconds—an exceptional feat by any measure. However, despite her remarkable performance, she just fell short of advancing to the top 6 —a testament to the fierce competition and high standards prevalent in the industry.

As the spotlight shifted to Linda, anticipation mounted for her performance in the Oatly Barista Championship. Linda exuded confidence and grace, ready to showcase her talent on the grand stage. Though her journey ended before reaching the finals, Linda's performance resonated with poise and professionalism, earning her admiration and respect from peers and spectators alike.
