Introducing Single Origin With Milk!

What is 'Single Origin With Milk'?

Each month we release 3 espresso single origins from around the planet, showcasing the dynamic and interesting flavour profiles each part of the world has to offer. 'Single Origin With Milk' is the way we can continue our pursuit in showing the wider coffee community that coffee is more than chocolate and nuts. Single origins are purchased for their unique qualities and to show the dedication of the farmer to quality and excellence. From February 2022 we will be carefully selecting 1 coffee each month, that we know will taste amazing with milk, bringing exciting new flavours to your daily coffee routine. Education is the key to continued growth for our company and our community, flavour is king and we want to bring you along for the ride.

Why have we done this?

For a long time mixing single origins with milk has been a little riskay, frowned upon or just left of field. This is for a variety of reasons, one of which is roasting. This is due to the fact that to extract the most flavour out of the coffee it requires a lighter roast, highlighting acidity, clarity and fruity flavours. Sometimes resulting in a delicious strawberry-like flat white and sometimes a curdled acid bomb that quickly gets returned.

With the success of our flavour savour series, we want to continue to break this barrier down and show you all the exciting world of flavour in coffee and we are going to do it through single origins. Single origins are usually consumed either as espresso or long blacks but now we want you to experience that flavour sensation in your daily flat or cap!

What to expect

You should be expecting a range of fruits from strawberries to stone fruits, milk chocolate and marshmallows, increased sweetness, added complexity and it to be very drinkable.

What not to expect……dark chocolates, bitterness, the perception of strong coffee and savoury qualities

What is a Single Origin 101

Very simply a single origin comes from a small dedicated section or area of the farm, most of the time but not always having a single variety tree, examples of this might be like apple trees, granny smith vs a red gala or in wine a Riesling compared to a chardonnay. This coffee is always the best that each particular farm has to offer and is usually scored in the mid to high 80’s out of 100. Things that contribute to this high score are a combination of flavour, acidity and aroma to name a few.
