Maragogype itself is a rare variety. Known as the “elephant bean” for its oversized seeds, it’s challenging for farmers: low yields, disease susceptibility, and especially vulnerability to leaf rust make it a risky choice to grow. That’s why hybrids like Pacamara were developed, crossing Maragogype with Pacas for resilience and higher yield.

But when grown well, pure Maragogype shows exactly why it’s still valued - delivering those botanical touches, chocolate notes, and a flavour intensity that make this lot from La Concepción stand out.
