A distinctive and memorable expression of Sumatra.

This lot comes from Iwannitosa Putra, the owner of Putra Gayo - a mill and farm in Aceh, Sumatra. The farm covers 250 hectares with around 275,000 Gayo varietal trees, grown under shade from banana, orange, avocado, jackfruit, and more. Unlike the more common wet-hulled process in Sumatra, Iwannitosa specialises in both washed and natural coffees, giving us something a little different and unique.

Another great stand out is its traceability. In Sumatra, most producers have small plots, so their coffees are often blended together at the mill. Microlots like this are rare - fully traceable back to the producer, showcasing higher quality and rewarded with higher prices.

The cup itself is complex, with a molasses-like sweetness, sticky mouthfeel, and a touch of spice. You’ll find notes of blackcurrant, goji berry, and licorice - a distinctive and memorable expression of Sumatra.
